In 2010, the California Endowment launched a 10-year, $1 billion plan to improve the health of 14 challenged communities across the state. Over the 10 years, community-based organizations and public institutions worked together to address the socioeconomic and environmental challenges contributing to the poor health of their communities. This bi-weekly series of stories published in the Sacramento News & Review in 2015 covered the work that was done on this project.

At the beginning of a new school year, teachers and staff are revved up and ready to do just that. Twin Rivers will apply the lessons learned from last year, including the data from SBAC test results when they are available, to target growth in student achievement with accuracy. As a baseline year, last year's test serves as a point of departure against which to chart the progress of each student.The coordinated effort of support for teachers and students will help Twin Rivers students succeed.
